It is stunning to watch politicians who by day make a living talking about the rights and dignity of women, then by night condone creepy sexual predators of their own party.
It’s a selective outrage that can afflict both major political parties, of course. But for Democrats who today pretend to take the highest of ground in what they call the “war on women,” their hypocrisy seems to know no bounds.
For example, consider how Democrats have welcomed back to the party, with hugs and kisses, Bill Clinton, Eliot Spitzer, Bob Filner and Anthony Weiner.
If Democrats were building a new Mount Rushmore to pervert politicians, these rascals would make excellent nominees. Or, if they wanted to take their act on the road, these guys might headline at the Riviera in Las Vegas. They’d be a seedy version of the “Rat Pack.”
Bill Clinton would be the Frank Sinatra of resurrected political pervs.
Clinton prowled for sex as governor of Arkansas. His behavior carried on to the White House, where he stained the presidency.
Now, Democrats hail him as a senior party spokesman. But you can bet this old hound dog is still up to his old tricks. He stumps the country speaking at local high schools about how Democrats uphold the dignity of women.
And Democrats say nothing about this spectacle.
Eliot Spitzer resigned as governor of New York when he was caught screwing around with prostitutes in a high-end call service. Aside from the sex, there were plenty of questions about whether he spent public money to facilitate his sexual urges.
Now he’s the front-runner for the office of Comptroller of New York City. Unbelievable. And not a single peep of protest from the Democratic Party.
Although not a national name, San Diego Mayor Bob Filner ranks right up there among top Democrats when it comes to the sexual harassment Ick-O-Meter.
Here is Filner in a nutshell, courtesy of a blog item last week by Mary Katherine Ham: “The idea that a man in a position of power might systematically abuse that power, doling out unwanted sexual advances coupled with threats of punishment for noncompliance, the idea that a mayor of a major American city might require a standing rule not to meet with women behind closed doors and the creation of ‘workplace safety zones’ for women who feel threatened by him, the idea that numerous harassment allegations had been treated casually and cavalierly for years by a party apparatus intent on covering them up, not ensuring safety of women in the workplace, the idea that said leader should then maybe not give a keynote speech at a conference about sexual harassment in the military — these are not larger truths worth exploring, because the man in power is a Democrat. Simple as that.”
Then there’s ex-Congressman Anthony Weiner, who resigned in disgrace following the revelation that he sent random women text pictures of the body part that matches his surname. Now he’s running as a Democrat for the mayor of New York City. Polls show this high-tech weenie is the favorite among Democrats.
Last week, we learned that even after his fall from Congress, and despite his apologies and pledge to get help, he continued with the “sexting” behavior.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, more than a week ago, said she had no desire to denounce Mayor Filner’s admitted sexual predator habits. However, she finally came around by Thursday and harshly admonished both Filner and Weiner.
Will more top politicians in the Democrat Party who say they stand up for the dignity of women finally blush and speak out?
Waiting … waiting …
