Na Koa Ikaika Maui swept a doubleheader from the Hawaii Stars on Saturday to take five of six games in the Pacific Association baseball series.
Nick Valdez was 3 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs and Jeremy Williams was 2 for 4 and also drove in three runs to back Eri “Knuckle Princess” Yoshida in Maui’s 11-3 victory.
Yoshida worked five innings and allowed only two hits and a run, including Marshall McDonald’s home run. Yoshida walked two and struck out two.
John Holley (0-3) pitched five innings and took the loss for Hawaii (21-30), allowing eight hits and eight runs with three walks and a strikeout.
McDonald, whose home run was his fourth of the season, was 2 for 3.
In the other game, Maui scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning against Tony York for a 5-4 walk-off victory.
Charlie Mirabal collected three hits for Na Koa Ikaika Maui (36-18), and Ray Serrano drove in two runs.
Tyler Krobetzky was 2 for 4 with two RBIs for the Stars and Katsuaki Furuki was 2 for 4.
Ronnie Loeffler pitched the first five innings for Hawaii and yielded four hits and three runs with two strikeouts and two walks. York (1-2) got two outs.
Curtis Mobley (2-0) got the win despite giving up four hits and two runs in the top of the seventh.
Hawaii heads to Japan for the first time this season to play six games starting Tuesday.
