A 39-year-old man from Mountain View was arrested last week at Hilo International Airport for allegedly carrying eight pounds of marijuana in his carry-on bag.
Wendell Figueroa Jr. was arrested last Friday on suspicion of first-degree attempted commercial promotion of marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia after police recovered a duffle bag containing four 2-pound bags of marijuana in the terminal, where he was waiting for his flight.
He was taken to the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Vice Section continued the investigation. After consulting with prosecutors, detectives released him at 8:10 a.m. Friday pending further investigation.
