Walter William “Billy” Bond, Jr., 74, of Long Beach, Calif. died May 10, 2012 in Harbor City, Calif. Born and raised in Hilo, he was a carpenter for 21 years, a business representative for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Southwestern Region, and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Interment 2 p.m. Wednesday at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (“Punchbowl”), Honolulu. Survived by daughters, Kelli Bond, Patricia Alkawadri, and Lisa (David) Champa; hanai daughters, Isabel Cordero, Norma Melgoza, and Diana (Christopher) Hernandez, all of California; sister, Helen (James) McVitty of Florida; two grandchildren; eight hanai grandchildren; two hanai great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
