Hilo’s Halau Na Pua O Uluhaimalama’s first-time entry in the George Naope seventh Hula Festival in Sacramento, Calif., was an outstanding success.
Under the direction of Kumu Hula Emery Aceret, the halau placed in 10 categories, including an award for second place overall in the Wahine Group. Presented by the Makanaaloha Group and sponsored by Hawaiianfeathers.com, the event at the Holiday Inn Capital Plaza hotel in Sacramento was held July 20-21.
