The Palace Theater in downtown Hilo will be unveiling its new stage with a special blessing by cultural practitioner Leilehua Yuen on Wednesday at 11 a.m. as part of the Palace’s “Hawaiiana” Live program.

Following the program and the stage blessing, light refreshments will be served in the lobby. Tickets for the event are only $5, with children 12 and under admitted free.

Friends of the Palace Theater would like to thank the Gerald and Janet Carrus Foundation for its $25,000 donation to rebuild the stage, and also to the amazing community cast of the “Vaudeville Variety Show” whose talents and efforts helped raise another $11,000 for the project. The construction is now complete, and the final phase, involving new energy-efficient stage lighting and footlights, is scheduled for completion later this year.
