Cedar Fair attendance flat in first half of year

SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) — Amusement park operator Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. says attendance has been down just a bit in the first half of this year.

The company whose parks include Cedar Point and Kings Island in Ohio said Thursday that attendance was down less than 1 percent through June.

But the slight attendance drop has been offset by an increase in spending at its parks and at its hotels this summer.

The company with headquarters in Sandusky says it sold a record number of season passes for this year and that group sales also are up.

Cedar Fair owns more than a dozen amusement parks and water parks around the country, along with a handful of hotels.
