Season ticket sales for the 2013-14 University of Hawaii at Hilo athletic season begins today.

Available will be the 2013 Volleyball season and Vulcan All-Sports packages.

The volleyball team s is looking at a 15-match home season. Packages prices are $100 (adult reserved), $75 (adult general admission), $70 (senior 55+ reserved) and $55 (senior 55+ general admission).

The season starts with the University of Alaska Fairbanks (Aug. 29), University of Alaska Anchorage (Aug. 31), East Central­­ University (Sept. 5 and 7) and Fort Hays State University (Sept. 9) in pre-Pacific West Conference play. An alumni game is slated for Sept. 14.

This season, the Vulcans host PacWest opponents Chaminade University (Sept. 26), Hawaii Pacific University (Sept. 28), Brigham Young University-Hawaii (Oct. 12), Azusa Pacific University (Oct. 16), Point Loma Nazarene University (Oct. 19), Dixie State University (Oct. 24), Academy of Art University (Oct. 26), Fresno Pacific University (Oct. 28), Notre Dame de Namur University (Oct. 30) and Holy Names University (Nov. 3).

All-Sports packages are $300 (reserved seating adult), $250 (reserved seating senior 55+), $200 (general seating adult) and $150 (general seating senior 55+).

The package includes 15 volleyball matches, 17 men’s basketball games, 14 women’s basketball games, eight baseball doubleheaders and eight softball doubleheaders,

BIAC August points meet news

The Big Island Auto Club’s August Point meet was cancelled early Sunday afternoon because of rain and unsafe track conditions.

Before the rain call, 4 drivers had advanced to the finals of the Mega Bracket competition. Four drivers also advanced to the finals in the Junior Dragsters Competition.

Big Island Auto Club members decided to divide the prize money equally among all four finishers in each category.

Here are the finalists:

Mega Bracket: Richard Souza (Naalehu) in a Chevy Bel-Air. Jerry Andrade (Hilo) in a Vega Station Wagon. Kaike Deponte (Keaau) in a Camaro. And Kiah Taroma (Hilo) in a Camaro.

Junior Dragsters: Nicole Miprano (Hilo). Daesha Tobara (Mt. View). Dione Tobara (Mt. View). And Kaimi Francis (Hilo).

Fastest car on the track: Brandon Murakami (Aiea, Oahu) in a Chevy Cavalier (7.50 sec/183 mph).

The next race is the Labor Day Drags, which will be held at the Hilo Drag Strip on Aug. 31-Sept. 1.

HISOA to meet about volleyball

The Hawaii Island Sports Officials Association volleyball general membership meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Waiakea High School Gym.
