LEVICE, Slovakia — Lia Galdeira led all scorers with 16 points as the Washington State University women’s basketball team defeated Levice 69-34 on Sunday at Sportová Hala in Levice, Slovakia. The game was WSU’s first of a four-game tour through Austria, Slovakia, and Czech Republic.
“For our first game we did a really good job defensively,” head coach June Daugherty said. “We forced a lot of turnovers and had a good transition game. We were an unselfish team and shared the basketball well.”

Freshman Ivana Kmetovska of Macedonia, made her debut in a WSU jersey, scoring six points. All 11 Cougar players scored in the game with 30 points off the bench. Dawnyelle Awa, a sophomore point guard and former Galdeira teammate at Konawaena High, scored four points in the win.
Levice was lead by Letilova Michgola with 10 points.
The team will now travel to Prague to play three other European opponents. WSU will face Hradec Kralove today, Karlove Vary on Wednesday, and BLK VSE Praha on Thursday. The team will return to Pullman on Friday.
