The Hilo branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will host an Aloha Luncheon on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 12:15 p.m. at a member’s home in Kaumana.
The cost is $25 for this catered event, with payment due Monday, Aug. 19. AAUW members invite interested community members to attend, to socialize and make new connections with AAUW.
“Our mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research,” said membership Vice President Elizabeth Hansen. “For over 60 years, the Hilo Branch of AAUW has been assisting women and girls in our community to achieve self-realization through education.
“We are continuing this tradition and hope you will join us in our mission. If you hold an associate or equivalent, or higher, degree from a regionally accredited college or university, you can join AAUW,” she said.
The Hilo Branch of AAUW awards schol-
arships to local women to complete their degrees at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, and it contributes to the AAUW educational national foundation.
“The AAUW Hilo Branch sponsors stimulating fundraising events, a variety of educational programs focused on empowering women and girls, as well as ‘just fun’ events,” Hansen explained.
