Fukuyo “Fuku” Hata, 80, of Hilo, died August 11 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Ka‘u, she was a retired nurse from Hilo Hospital and member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission, Kapualani Kumiai, Hilo Hospital Retirees, HGEA Retirees, and Queen’s Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. Masuki “Billy” Imai, 96, of Honokaa died Aug. 6 at the North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Haina, he was a retired supervisor for the former Honokaa Sugar Company and a member of the Honokaa Hongwanji Mission. Private services held. William Haruo Takata, 84, of Hilo, died at the Hilo Medical Center on July 23. Born in Honolulu, he originally worked at the former Hakalau Plantation. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a former employee of E.E. Black Construction, an autobody technician with the former I. Kitagawa & Co. and Bert’s Autobody, and later worked at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel and for KTA Super Stores. He was also a member of the Taishoji Soto Mission. Friends may call at the Dodo Mortuary chapel on Saturday from 3-4:00 p.m., where a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Casual attire. No flowers.
