As the saying goes: “Some do. Some teach. The best do both.” That’s the focus of “11 Voices, East Hawaii Art Faculty Show,” which opens Friday, Sept. 6, at the Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Arts (formerly known as the East Hawaii Cultural Center) to showcase the works of 11 art instructors teaching in East Hawaii.

The best do both.” That’s the focus of “11 Voices, East Hawaii Art Faculty Show,” which opens Friday, Sept. 6, at the Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Arts (formerly known as the East Hawaii Cultural Center) to showcase the works of 11 art instructors teaching in East Hawaii.
They come from the four corners of the world: Asia, Europe, the continent and Hawaii. Join instructors: Tobias Brill, Kevin Diminyatz, GB Hajim, Meidor Hu, Monika Mann, Daniel Miller, Violet Murakami, Randall Shiroma, Kaori Ukaji, Sally Renee Visaya and Glenn Yamanoha. They will display their latest works using animation, assemblage, clay, collage, installation, mixed-media, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture and video.
The show opens with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will run through the Sept. 25. The HMoCA is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 141 Kalakaua St. in downtown Hilo. Call 961-5711.
