BWA Gigantic Garage Sale a hit
On behalf of the Hilo Hongwanji Buddhist Women’s Association, I would like to thank the community for once again supporting our Gigantic Garage Sale on Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Sangha Hall.
It’s always gratifying to see the many excited shoppers waiting patiently in line long before 7 a.m. The droves of bargain hunters enjoyed the outstanding selection of secondhand and brand-new treasures, handcrafted items, plants and vegetables donated by church members, as well as by generous friends from the community.
Through your generosity, we were able to surpass our goal, so that the proceeds can be used for the many projects for our temple. We have donated many of the unsold items to many agencies serving the needy, such as the women’s shelter, Under His Wings and Hope Services.
Many shoppers exclaimed that this is the most organized garage sale, which is a testament of the many weeks spent preparing for the sale by our dedicated members.
I humbly thank the BWA members and temple volunteers who helped to make this garage sale a huge success!
