Competition was fierce and scores were close going into the last jam of the competition. PRG’s all-star team, the Hawaiian Honey Badgers, took home the trophy after defeating Maui Rollergirls in the weekend’s intense final bout, 128 to 100.

Paradise Roller Girls is a women’s flat-track roller derby league based out of Hilo. The league is divided into three home teams: Mauna Killahz, Volcano Vixens and Hilo Bay Bruisers. Founded in 2010, the league has recently experienced rapid growth in the number of both skating participants and enthusiastic fans.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, PRG will host the Waimea Wranglers, Kona Outlaws and Echo City Knockouts at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium for an islandwide Battle of the Big Island. Tickets and more information are available at paradiserollergirls.com.
