Members of the Hawaii County Council Committee on Agriculture, Water and Energy Sustainability voted early Tuesday evening to recommend passage to the full council of a bill that would ban geothermal fracking on Hawaii Island.

Members of the Hawaii County Council Committee on Agriculture, Water and Energy Sustainability voted early Tuesday evening to recommend passage to the full council of a bill that would ban geothermal fracking on Hawaii Island.

Two members were not present for the unanimous vote, but had voiced support for Bill 129 earlier in the meeting. The bill is scheduled to go before the full council on Oct. 2.
