Grace Correa Carter, 96, of Hilo died Sept. 13 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a housewife, former badminton champion, catechism teacher and member of St. Joseph and Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic churches, Alahui Ka’ahumanu and Puueo Kumiai. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Celebration of life at 10 a.m. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Burial in Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua section. Survived by sons, David (Bernie Gomes) Carter of Kona and Morty (Gayle) Carter of Hilo; daughter-in-law, Pamela Carter of Hilo; brother, James “Jimmy” Correa of Hilo; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. John Yin Wo Ching, 74, of Hawi died Sept. 15 at home. Born in Kohala Hospital, he was a certified welder, heavy equipment operator, rancher, U.S. Navy veteran and member of Iron Workers Union Local 625. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at Kahua Ranch Paniolo Lanai. Celebration of life at 11 a.m. Inurnment at a later date. Flowers and lei welcome. Elizabeth “Nana” deSilva Ignacio, 97, of Papaikou died Sept. 13 at home under hospice care. Born in Honokaa, she was a homemaker, retired caregiver, catechism teacher at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and member of Sacred Heart Society and Hilo Grandmothers’ Club. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou. Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park, section 1. Born in Napoopoo, she was retired from Hawaiian Linen Supply and a member of Ke Kilohana O Ka Malamalama, Hawaiian Bowling League, and Hilo High School Bowling Boosters.
