Russell Batalona, 50, of Paauilo died Sept. 12 at his residence. Born in Honokaa, he was a security guard for the state and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, (Honokaa Ward). Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, (Honokaa Ward). Funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial at Kukuihalele County Cemetery. Casual attire. Grace Correa Carter, 96, of Hilo died Sept. 13 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a housewife, former badminton champion, Catechism teacher, member of both St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo and Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha, Hawaii and was a member of Alahui Ka‘ahumanu and Puueo Kumiai. Friends may call from 8-10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Celebration of life at 10 a.m.; funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire, no flowers. Eldridge Ulivas Foronda, 92, Kailua-Kona died Sept. 1 at the Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Buguey Cagayan, Philippines, he was a maintenance man at the Royal Kona Resort, a realtor at A‘ala Realty Company, Century 21 and Koa Realty, was past president of the Ilocano Club of Hawaii, member of the Kona Lions Club and St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and former president of the Filipino Organization of Kona. Friends may call at 8 a.m. Friday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 74-574 Honokohau St., in the Honokohau Industrial Park for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass; burial to follow at the Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. Jennie Toda Sakoda, 92, of Hilo died Sept. 17, at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility.
