Ten new booths have been added this year including one for the Hawaii Medication Take Back Program which will be the collection site for anonymous disposal of unused or expired medications by the Department of the Attorney General, Crime Prevention & Justice Assistance Division and Department of Public Safety, Narcotics Enforcement Division.
There will be free flu shots for members of HMSA, HMAA, TRICARE, UHA, AlohaCare and Medicare Part B as well as health screenings for glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, bone density and balance testing. Door prize drawings, games and live entertainment will be scheduled throughout the fair. There will be two grand prize drawings – one will be for a $200 gas gift card courtesy of Mid Pac Petroleum and 76 Hawaii Gasoline and the other will be for a $250 Vegas charter package certificate courtesy of Vacations Hawaii.
Entertainment on the main stage will feature a cooking demonstration by Helgi Olafson from the Helgi Olafson Foundation as well as musical guests Tad Humble and the Humble Project Senior Ukulele Group and the Bev Shiflett Line Dancers.
Other activities at the Wellness Fair include free notary service (up to two documents per household; photo ID required) free document shredding (up to two banker’s boxes per person), and free county senior IDs.
In addition to First Hawaiian Bank, the Big Island PrimeTime Wellness Fair is co-sponsored by the county Elderly Activities Division and Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii, LLP.
