A Kona man has been charged with theft and auto theft for allegedly stealing a 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck from a parking lot at Kona International Airport over the weekend of Sept. 28 and 28.

Kona patrol officers found the truck Monday down an embankment off Kaloko Drive. Investigation led to the arrest of 21-year-old Colvin Gaspar of Kailua-Kona. He was charged Tuesday with auto theft and second-degree theft, both Class C felonies punishable by up to five years in prison.

Bail was set at $20,000, and Gaspar was held at the cellblock until his initial court appearance on Wednesday.
