Hilo Hattie, The Store of Hawaii, announces that on Tuesday it will celebrate its 50th year of sharing aloha with the world. Since 1963, Hilo Hattie has served over 50 million visitors, making it the largest shopping attraction in the state. Hilo Hattie is best known for being the world’s largest retailer, manufacturer and wholesaler of Hawaii fashions and gifts, offering locals and visitors alike thousands of Hawaii products including a wide range of exclusive Made-In-Hawaii garments.
Since Donald B.S. Kang purchased Hilo Hattie’s in 2009, the company has worked hard to provide the most authentic Hawaiian shopping experience for its guests. This includes building a full Halau Studio at the flagship location, high-tech conference rooms, adding the “Kona Bean Café” and Aloha Shirt Museum Exhibit, and most importantly designing and manufacturing specialty lines from iconic Hawaiian brands and designers. The line includes works from such luminaries as Mamo Howell, Kim Taylor Reece, Wyland, Amy Hanaiali‘i, Taylor Wily, Hawaiian Moon, Pacific Historical Parks (Pearl Harbor) and Hawaiian Coffee Association.
Hilo Hattie is Sharing Aloha in October with 50 percent off selected items in the store as well as selling garments for $19.63 in celebration of their anniversary year. In addition to the sale, Hilo Hattie is having a “Share Your Aloha” photo contest on Facebook where fans can post a picture of what aloha means to them for a chance to win gift cards.
