A Hilo grand jury on Wednesday indicted two individuals in separate meth trafficking cases.
A 10-count indictment charges 22-year-old Kaily-Ann Torres of Hilo with attempted first-degree methamphetamine trafficking, two counts of first-degree methamphetamine trafficking, three counts each of second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia, and a single count of marijuana possession.
Police say that a controlled purchase of 15.7 grams of meth was made on April 27 and another buy of 13.9 grams was made on May 1. Officers also allegedly found 21.3 grams of meth and a small amount of marijuana on May 10 while conducting a search warrant on a vehicle on Kauhaehae Place in Pahoa.
A separate three-count indictment charges 43-year-old Frank Pereira of Keaau with attempted first-degree methamphetmine trafficking, attempted second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to police, a controlled buy of 3.5 grams of meth was made on Sept. 27, 2012, in Keaau.
The most serious offenses, first-degree methamphetamine trafficking and first-degree attempted methamphetamine trafficking, are Class A felonies punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment.
