Practical Agriculture for Hamakua announces its second fall presentation — “Soils of Hamakua: Nutrient Management in Concept and Practice” — will be presented by Jonathan Deenik of the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Laupahoehoe Community Public Charter School.
The soils of the Hamakua Coast are unique in their physical, chemical and biological properties. This presentation will highlight some of the extraordinary properties of these soils, provide an exciting glimpse into the science of soils, explain key water and nutrient relationships, and expose different soil management strategies for sustainable crop production.
