Samuel “Sammy Boy” Akaka III, 51, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 9 at the North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a painter for Machin Painting and Decorating, a musician with Natural High, All G, Generous Thieves and Keleo, and he was a member of Pacific Island Fitness and Living Stones Church. Friends may call at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club at Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona for a memorial service. Casual attire. No flowers. Survived by daughter, Kawai Akaka of Waimea; mother, Dora (Robert) Aio-Leamons of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Bernard Akaka of Kailua-Kona, Eugene (Amanda) Barnes of Missouri; sisters, Celestine Dugay of North Carolina, Cathleen Akaka of Kailua-Kona; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Linda Simone Breithaupt, 69, of South Point Road died Oct. 3, at Ka‘u Hospital. Born in Pahala, she was a retired educational assistant for the Department of Education at Ka‘u High School and a member of the Naalehu Assembly of God. George “Kino” Kinoulu Kahanahui, 88, of Kalaoa, Kona, died Oct. 9 at his residence. Born in North Kona, he was a carpenter foreman for Charles Banco, a foreman for Hawaiian Dredging Company, helped build the former Hyatt Regency Hotel and worked as a ranch hand for the Huehue Ranch. Kimiyo Kondo, 96, of Kealakekua died Aug. 26 at her caregiver’s residence. Born in Captain Cook, she was a homemaker and a member of Kona Hongwanji Mission. Private services held. Harold Toshio “Capt.” Oie, 91, of Honolulu died Sept. 27 at Queen’s Medical Center. Born in Hakalau, he was an Army captain and served in World War II and the Korean War with the Military Intelligence Specialist Unit. Private services held.
