Women’s soccer
UHH goalkeeper Jenna Hufford has been selected the PacWest Women’s Soccer Freshman of the Week.
The conference announced the honor Monday for matches contested Oct. 21-27.
The Freshman of the Week honor is awarded to a freshman or red-shirt freshman for her overall outstanding play.
Hufford posted a 1-0-1 week with two shutouts and 10 saves for the Vulcans. She repelled three shots on goal in a 4-0 blanking of Holy Names on Oct. 26.
On Oct. 24 in a double-overtime draw at Hawai’i Pacific, Hufford stopped all seven shot on net.
Hufford finished the week with a 0.00 goals against average and a 1.000 save percentage while playing 200 minutes in net.
Men’s soccer
UHH defender Anthony Novella has been selected the PacWest Men’s Soccer Freshman of the Week.
The conference announced the honor on Monday for matches contested Oct. 21-27.
The Freshman of the Week honor is awarded each week to a freshman or red-shirt freshman for his overall outstanding play.
Novella scored the Vulcans’ lone goal at 72:47 of a tough 2-1 home loss vs. Holy Names on Oct. 26. UHH trailed 1-0 in the contest but Novella punched in the game-tying goal — his third goal of the 2013 campaign.
Holy Names eventually won the contest after scoring the deciding goal with :56 left in regulation.
Women’s volleyball
UHH outside hitter Marley Strand-Nicolaisen has been selected the PacWest Women’s Volleyball Freshman of the Week.

The Freshman of the Week honor is awarded each week to a freshman or red-shirt freshman for her overall outstanding play.
Strand-Nicolaisen led the Vulcans to a 1-1 week by averaging 5.28 points per set — fourth-best in the PacWest for the week. She totaled 47.5 points on 41 kills, five aces and three block assists over nine sets.
Strand-Nicolaisen ranked fourth in kills for the week in the PacWest after recording 4.56 kills per set, while she also tied for eighth in aces per set with a 0.56 mark.
Defensively, Strand-Nicolaisen totaled 34 digs and averaged 3.78 digs per set — tying for 11th in the PacWest for the week.
Women’s basketball
Saturday’s 6 p.m. alumnae game has been cancelled due to the lack of available alumnae.
