The University of Hawaii at Hilo only has one senior, but coach Tino Reyes hopes his team’s three-game winning streak will help provide her with a fitting send-off.

In their penultimate home match of the season Wednesday night, the Vulcans swept Notre Dame de Namur 25-14, 25-18, 25-22 at UHH Gym.

Freshman Marley Strand-Nicolaisen tallied 14 kills and Kyndra Trevino-Scott put down 10 as the Vuls (9-11, 4-11 Pacific West Conference) produced only 11 hitting errors to earn their first sweep since Sept. 9

“We’re getting better,” Reyes said. “I hope we can get better in practice and see what we can do in our last home match.”

The freshmen have been the face of the Vulcans this season, but at 3 p.m. Sunday against Holy Names (1-22, 1-12) the spotlight will be on senior defensive specialist Kelia Parrilla, who studies in the school of pharmacy.

“She’s been a wonderful ambassador, not only for the volleyball team, but the university,” Reyes said. “Just a wonderful person. I hope people will come out.”

Callie Aberle added eight kills on Wednesday night as balanced UHH hit .259. Her ace tied Game 3 22-22, and she served out the match courtesy as a kill by Trevino-Scott was sandwiched between two by Strand-Nicolaisen, who notched 12 digs.

The Argonauts (5-18, 2-12) hit only .102 and were led by Dominique Tarrant’s nine kills.
