Hilo Vulcan Booster

Club luncheon slated

The Hilo Vulcan Booster Club’s monthly luncheon will be held at noon Tuesday at the New Star Restaurant, 172 Kilauea Ave.

Guest speakers will be Lance Thompson, first-year director of soccer, as well as players from his women’s and men’s teams.

A Chinese buffet will be served at a cost of $12 per person.

Neil Arakaki and Ronald Nakamura won 50-target events, and Milford Tabura and Elton Endo teamed up to win a 48-target shoot earlier this month at a Kilauea Skeet Club sporting shoot at the country trap and skeet range.

Waimea Athletics

T-ball/coach-pitch

The Department of Parks and Recreation in partnership with Waimea Athletics will host a coaches meeting for T-ball (ages 5-6) and coach-pitch (7-8) at 6 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Waimea Community Center. All returning coaches are asked to attend.

Player registration will be $40 (uniform shirt/hat/ball and team equipment) from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays from Nov. 27-Dec. 14 at Waimea Community Center. Sign-ups will also be available on clinic day, Dec. 14, at 8:30 a.m. The clinic runs from 9-11 a.m.

Phenon Basketball

to hold camp in Hilo

A Phenom Basketball Exposure Regional Camp for boys and girls in grades 5-8 will be held Nov. 16-17 at the Panaewa Park gym.

The cost is $125, and according to a release, each player will receive a Phenom game uniform, four-game guarantee, several hours of skill development and very informative breakout sessions, learning discipline, teamwork, mental toughness, basketball IQ, and working with new coaches and teammates.

The Regional Camp concept is used around the country by Phenom Basketball to identify players to attend their national camps in the summer.
