Ralph Raymond Horn, 90, of Waikoloa died Oct. 24 at home. Born in Urbana, Ill., he was a retired airline pilot and a WWII Army Air Corps veteran. Private services. Survived by wife, Myrna Horn of Waikoloa; daughter, Kathleen (Tim) Skov of Santa Rosa, Calif.; sons, Douglas Horn of San Diego, David (Shana) Horn of Castro Valley, Calif., Stephen Horn of West Linn, Ore., and Charles Horn of Geneva, Switzerland; brother, James Horn of Medford, Ore.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Hideo Ishigo, 100, of Honomu died Oct. 11 in Hilo. Born in Honomu, he was the retired owner of the former Ishigo Store & Bakery in Honomu, member of Honomu Henjoji Mission (Honomu Odaishisan) and Fukuoka Kenjin Kai. Services held. Odette Cecile Rickert, 58, of Hilo died Oct. 25 at home. Born in Los Angeles, she was an editor, life counselor, taught West Coast swing, tai chi, yoga, and qigong, and was a member of Big Island Dance Council, Center Stage, Hula Halau O Kou Lima Nani E, and Richardson’s Beach Club. Katsuyuki “Ben” “Ka-chan” Tanabe, 91, of Aiea, formerly of Captain Cook and Kealakekua, died Oct. 21 in Honolulu. Born in Wailuku, he was president of The Kona Club of Honolulu, former owner of Moana Builders, worked for Robert’s Hawaii and was a WWII Army veteran who served a Japanese language interpreter. Survived by wife, Hang Yon Tanabe; sons, Glenn Tanabe and Van Tanabe; daughters, Thelma Tanabe and Iris Hirose; brother, David Tanabe; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Leighton “Whit” Whittle, 78, of Waimea died Oct. 23 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam-era veteran. Private services. Lani Pele Hiong Hing Wong, 89, of Hilo, died Oct. 28. She was born in Pahoa. Visitation 8:30-10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home.
