Second- and third-graders at Hawaii Preparatory Academy will present Geology Rocks! at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22. The musical performance, which is free and open to the public, will be held at Gates Performing Arts Center on the school’s Upper Campus.
“Geology Rocks!” is presented in conjunction with the students’ science curriculum. HPA’s Lower School music teacher Georgia Polakova directs.
Here’s the scenario: Professor Rock has vanished, and it’s up to his geology students to find him. With a little “help” from Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, they set out to find their beloved teacher. The mystery leads them to some dyspeptic volcanoes on the Big Island, some mountains on the rise, ferns who want to become fossil fuel, and even Snow White and her seven little miners, or dwarfs.
This is the second in a series of musical productions by HPA’s Lower School students. The kindergarten and first-grade classes will present the next performance at 2:15 p.m. on Feb. 7. For more information, call 885-2501 or 885-2500.
