I would like to congratulate the expedient and great work on Highway 130 by the workers of HELCO.
In just a month they replaced 35 power poles, wired them, got them on line and removed the replaced poles.
Now that they are done and the traffic is moving as good as before.
Just think how much better it will be when the extra lanes are done.

Successful health fair
The Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy extends our sincere gratitude to the more than 500 people in the greater Hilo community who helped make our fifth annual health fair a success.
Every year we learn more about what the community needs with respect to taking responsibility of health care needs. Thanks to 152 student volunteers, 68 community volunteers and four faculty and community pharmacist volunteers, we were able to offer 15 information booths in smoking cessation, poison control, rat lungworm disease, asthma, exercise and healthy eating, alcoholism, GERD, cancer, osteoporosis, herbals, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, generation Rx, Vial of Life and sexual health.
Student pharmacists and faculty led screenings for 159 people on blood pressure, cholesterol, A1C, BMI and medication counseling. A keiki art contest attracted 133 entries, and raffle drawings pulled in more than 372 participants.
Our thanks also goes to community partners Bay Clinic, Hawaii Senior Medicare Patrol, Alzheimer’s Association, HMSA, Civil Defense, Alice Suncloud and Dr. Myrtle Miyamura for collaborating in the health fair with information booths and activities that included tai chi, an Alzheimer’s awards ceremony, a line dance, yiquan, zumba, aikido, rhythm and life and taekwondo.
We also are grateful for the support from Prince Kuhio Plaza, National Association of Chain Drug Stores, NewWest Broadcasting Corp., Zales, HFS federal Credit Union, R. Weinstein Pharmaceuticals Medical Products, American Pharmacists Association, Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, the A.L.O.H.A. project, National Community Pharmacists Association, the Pacific Island Mobile Screening Clinic, Hawaii Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy, Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Inc., American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and Phi Delta Chi.
These collaborations help us build bonds that last a lifetime, and we’re honored to offer these services.
