Hawaii Community College will host a “HawCC ‘Ohana Scholarship Night” 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Manono Campus cafeteria in Hilo.
The event is an opportunity for current students, prospective students and parents to learn about the scholarships and financial aid available to help pay HCC tuition starting in the fall of 2014.
“‘Scholarship Night’ will be a lot of fun, and it will be a great resource for those who want to offset the cost of attending Hawaii Community College,” said Jason Cifra, vice chancellor for student affairs. “Last year, we awarded about $75,000 in scholarships, and coming to ‘HawCC ‘Ohana Scholarship Night’ is a great first step to securing some of those scholarship funds for fall 2014.”
“Scholarship Night” will feature games, food and a chance to win a $250 scholarship. Attendees can learn tips and strategies for preparing winning scholarship applications and learn about the resources available to get help obtaining scholarships and financial aid.
HCC will also host scholarship and financial aid workshops and tutoring sessions during the next three months to assist applicants. A list of workshops and tutoring sessions can be found at this link: goo.gl/yfFMVm.
Prospective and current students who will be attending HCC in fall 2014 can apply for scholarships online at hawaii.edu/finaid/scholarships/system. The application period is Dec. 1-March 1.
