PELHAM, Ala. (AP) — Alabama State Parks debuted a new event meant to bring in more visitors.
The first “Baumhower’s ShrimpFest and Barbecue” was hosted Friday evening at Oak Mountain State Park, located in the Birmingham suburb of Pelham.
The event is a partnership between restaurant owner Bob Baumhower, the state park system, Alabama Gulf Seafood and a Birmingham-based beer maker, Good People Brewing Co.
Admission fee was included with park admission.
The Oak Mountain event was the first of six planned ShrimpFests.
Others will be hosted next year at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores; Lake Point State Park in Eufaula; Lake Guntersville State Park in Guntersville; and Joe Wheeler State Park in Rogersville.
The events are being hosted in conjunction with the 75th anniversary of Alabama’s state parks.
