The United States Geological Survey created the lava hazard zone designation system for lava flows in 1974. The Island of Hawaii is divided into zones ranked 1 (greatest risk) through 9 (least risk) based on the probability of coverage by lava flows.
Zone 2 includes popular neighborhoods on both sides of the Big Island, such as Pahoa, Ocean View and parts of south Kona.
HomeStreet Bank offers a full range of home loan products to meet diverse home purchase and refinance needs, including conventional, Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Veterans Administration (VA) and USDA Rural Development loans. HomeStreet is one of the primary lenders for Hawaiian Home Lands.
