The Palace Theater will feature the HICCUP Circus in a “royal performance” 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Current and former students of the circus will grace the new Palace stage.

“The HICCUP Circus was such an important part of our fundraising to build our new stage and we are so pleased to have them back for a “royal performance,” said Marta Birchard, the theater’s new executive director.

The youth circus has had resurgence in popularity since its appearance in the “Vaudeville Variety Show” earlier this year. That show was the first time the Palace ever presented an aerial performance.

This show’s acts will include juggling, unicycling, acrobatics and more. As always when the circus is in town there are too many surprises to name them all. This will be a fun filled event for the young and young at heart. The Palace Theater hopes to make this a new Thanksgiving tradition in Hilo.

Since 1984, the award-winning HICCUP Circus has been a regular feature at many Big Island festivals and parades, performing for community events and benefits extending across the Hawaiian Islands to the West Coast of the United States.

The mission of the HICCUP Circus is “to promote the healthy development of children and the community through the time honored skills of the circus.”

The circus offers educational services to the public, with emphasis on elementary and intermediate school children and teens, especially in underserved, isolated rural communities. It is a privilege to showcase these youth and their trainers on The Palace Theater stage.

Tickets are on sale now at the Palace Box Office 10 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. They are $5 for ages 10 and younger and $10 for ages 11 and older. To purchase tickets by phone with a credit card, call the Palace at 934-7010.
