G.K. Skaggs teamed up with Young’s Market Company of Hawaii, San Miguel Brewery/Foundation and the Filipino Consul General of Hawaii to set up emergency aid donation centers on the Hawaiian Islands in response to the devastating Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Young’s Market Company of Hawaii graciously provided the support and logistic services to collect, prepare and ship donations to the Philippines.

Locations were established throughout the islands where the public can donate the much needed emergency supplies. At these locations, the public will be able to donate new clothing, nonprescription medical supplies, flashlights with batteries, soap, tents for temporary shelter, toys, water, disposable table wares (spoon, fork, plates and glasses) and nonperishable foods.

Donations should be dropped off in a sealed and labeled box stating the contents; this includes new clothing and canned goods.

“The people of Hawaii have been tremendous in wanting to help the people in the Philippines,” said Gregory Skaggs, president of G.K. Skaggs. “Through their generosity, we can help deliver the emergency aid needed by so many people in the Philippines right now.”

Several donation sites were set up on the Big Island and more are in the works. Once the donations are collected, they will be shipped to San Miguel Brewery Inc., located in the Philippines. The San Miguel Foundation will then be repacking and distributing the much needed emergency supplies to top priority areas, including Central Visayas, Samar and Leyte.
