“Pasko Sa Ating Bahay: (Christmas at Our House)” — a Christmas festival celebrating the true spirit of Filipino Christmas — will be hosted 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Edith Kanaka‘ole Multipurpose Stadium in Hilo.
A “barangay,” or village-style, celebration is planned. Volunteers will share traditional songs, dances, games, food, cooking demonstrations and other holiday activities.
Demonstrations will include parol making, and information about traditional Filipino tattoos will be available. Crafters will also present their work. There will be local entertainers, a mother-daughter fashion show, Filipino folk dancers, ballroom dancers, youth groups and carolers to provide live performances.
The festival is presented by Ating Bahay, a grassroots coalition committed to strengthening families and eliminating domestic violence in our communities.
The event is sponsored by the county Immigration Office, the state Department of Health and Pacific Islands Color of Women.
