HONOLULU (AP) — Police said a Pearl City man died after he tried to cross a major highway near Ko Olina.
Another media outlet reported the 59-year-old man was struck Friday night while crossing Farrington Highway from north to south, toward Ko Olina Resort.
Authorities said a 24-year-old Waipahu woman driving westbound in a Kia Forte struck him shortly before 9:30 p.m.
Police say he was not in a marked crosswalk. Authorities are looking into whether speeding was a factor but alcohol doesn’t appear to be involved.
They have not yet released the victim’s name.
