The Alzheimer’s Association invites the public to four events Friday and Saturday, Jan. 10-11, at the Regency at Hualalai in Kailua-Kona, and three programs Saturday, Jan. 18, at Tutu’s House in Waimea. Admission is free.

The association’s Hilo program coordinator, Chris Ridley, will present the workshops and movie.
Feel free to bring a lunch to enjoy during the movie screenings. Since seating is limited, please call Ridley for reservations at 443-7360.
Here’s the schedule:
• 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10: “What Is Dementia?” This seminar will include the latest information on the warning signs of dementia. Information on dementia, stages, symptoms and treatments will be provided.
• 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11: “Legal Affairs and Dementia,” a presentation on dementia and potential legal needs, legal capacity, advance health care directives, financial planning and organizing legal financial affairs.
• 11 a.m. Jan. 11: The movie “Iris,” based on the book “Elegy for Iris” by John Bayley, the true story of English novelist Iris Murdoch’s descent into Alzheimer’s disease and the unconditional love of Bayley, her partner of 40 years.
• 1 p.m. Jan. 11: “Challenging Behaviors in Dementia,” which includes information on why behaviors occur and possible interventions.
