Charles “Mel” Melvin Martinson, 94, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 20 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Tacoma, Wash., he was a telecommunications engineer and retired from Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone. He was also a World War II Army veteran. Private services held. Murray S. McLean, 73, of Hilo died Dec. 19 at home. Born in Fort Wayne, Ind., he was retired from United Airlines. He was also a member of First United Protestant Church in Hilo and a U.S. Army veteran. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Protestant Church, Hilo. Inurnment at the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) at a later date. Casual attire. No flowers.
