Gudrun Lina Chaffin, 59, died Dec. 16 at her Waikoloa home. Born in Schwenningen, Germany, she was a banquet worker at the Hilton Waikoloa. Private services held. Survived by husband, Timothy Chaffin of Waikoloa; daughters, Danielle Chaffin and Nichole Chaffin, both of Waikoloa; sister, Traudi Newerla of Germany; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Joseph Punsalan, 90, died Dec. 13 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Honomu, he was a retired truck driver with the former Hilo Coast Processing. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Friends may call at the Dodo Mortuary chapel on Thursday, Jan. 2, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Wake service at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, Jan. 3, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2. Michael Ray Allen, 70, of Ninole, died Dec. 7 at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Dallas, he was a retired salesman. Private services were held. Jackie Lee Yamamoto, 59, died Dec. 21 at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Kealakekua, she retired from the National Car Rental Company in Hilo.
