HONOLULU (AP) — A new vendor under contract with Honolulu began to handle all police-initiated vehicle tows on Oahu.
Thursday marked the first rush-hour period under Honolulu’s new contract with All Island Automotive Towing.
All Island took over duties Wednesday for all police-ordered tows for vehicles involved in crashes, parking violations and other incidents.
City officials said the new contract features the use of GPS tracking devices in all tow trucks that will enhance the system’s efficiency.
Officials said the devices also will reduce response times for removing traffic hazards and create electronic records to cut down on billing disputes.
