Hilo High School junior varsity baseball tryouts will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Wong Stadium.
Players are asked to wear baseball attire and must have their physicals updated with the school’s athletic trainer.

Hilo Little
League sign-ups
Hilo Little League registration for baseball and softball is ongoing through Feb. 28.
There is a new baseball division for players ages 12-13 utilizing a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths that will include a postseason tournament and World Series.
Softball sign-ups are being held for four divisions in ages 12-18.
Player registration and medical forms, proofs of residency requirements and manager or coach applications can be obtained for both baseball and softball by visiting www.hilo littleleague.com or calling 987-8469.
Feb. 15 is the deadline to apply.
Golf benefit for
Hilo baseball
Friends of Hilo High Baseball will hold its inaugural golf tournament in Saturday at Hilo Municipal Golf Course.
Registration begins at 6:45 a.m. at the first tee time is 7:15 a.m. The tournament will be a scramble format with two-person teams.

Golf feats
Chris Igawa shot a gross 60 on Dec. 8 at Hilo Municipal Golf Course. He had a 30 on both the front and back nines while playing with the Hustler’s Golf Club.
Witnessing Igawa’s outstanding round were Dereck Botelho, Sus Shigemasa, Harry Youn, Larry Nagata ad Richard Miyamoto.
• Sus Shigemasa, age 83, shot a gross 78 on Dec. 7 at Hilo Muni. Kyle Fujimoto, Kenji Kawai and Doug Tsuda witnessed Shigemasa’s sterling round.
