Edward “Tim” George O’Brien, 84, died Jan. 8 at the North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea. Born in Brooklyn, he was the hotel general manager for Rock Resorts in the Virgin Islands, and a U.S. Navy veteran. Private services will be held. Survived by wife, Mari O’Brien of Waikoloa; son, Robert (Cathy) O’Brien of Michigan; daughters, Kathy (Keith) Kent of Maine, Karyn Mashima of New York; sister, Rita Alexander of Florida; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Masao Gusukuma, 84, of Pepeekeo, died Jan. 10 at Hilo Medical Center.
