The banquet, sponsored by the Chinese Civic Association of Hawaii, will be hosted to celebrate the Chinese Lunar Year of the Horse on the Big Island, which this year officially begins Jan. 31.
Tickets for the banquet, at $50 each, can be purchased with cash or check from Newton Chu by calling 961-0406. The sale of tickets ends Feb. 7. Seating is limited.
As tradition calls for, banquet guests will be treated to a nine-course dinner, specially prepared by the chefs of Sky Garden restaurant at ‘Imiloa.
According to Chinese zodiac, 2014 is the Year of the Horse, starting from Jan 31 and ending Feb. 18, 2015. Also known as the Spring Festival, the Lunar New Year celebration is the most important holiday in China, lasting as long as a month.
Annually, hundreds of millions of people in China, working away from home, return to spend the holiday with their families.
