Betty Chan Nui Nelson, 92, of Honalo died Dec. 28 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hilo, she was a bookkeeper for the former King Kamehameha Hotel and Teshima’s Restaurant, a Holualoa postal clerk and library clerk and coffee picker. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Holualoa. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Interment will be at National Memoria Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) in Honolulu Cemetery. Survived by son, Bruce (Marcia) Nelson of Honalo; daughter, Betty Toylyn (Rick) Collier of Moses Lake, Wash.; brother, Ernest Chan Nui of Wenatchee, Wash.; sisters, Elizabeth (Bill) Corley of Texas and Marietta (Donald) Alicuben of Hilo; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Chikao “Mike” Mukai, 86, of Hilo died Jan. 23 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. He was born in Hilea, Ka‘u, he was a retired Hawaiian Rel fleet mechanic, retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant and member of Hui Okinawa and Makalika Kumiai. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Sue Mukai of Hilo; son, Michael Mukai of Vista, Calif.; daughters, Barbara Mukai of Lynnwood, Wash., and Anita (Won) Hyon of West Des Moines, Iowa; brother, Tsukasa Mukai of Hilo; sister, Lorraine Ayabe of Hilo; sister-in-law, Harue Mukai of Honolulu; three grandchildren; nephews, nieces, and cousins. Lorna Daisy Momiala Lee-Rodrigues, 60, of Kailua-Kona, died Jan. 21 at home. Born in Kealakekua, she was a former concierge at Kona Village Resort, member of Mokuaikaua Congregational Church and 1972 graduate of Konawaena High School. Visitation 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at Mokuaikaua Congregational Church. Service at 11:30 a.m. Refreshments to follow. Barbara Ann Rodriquez, 73, of Pahoa, died Jan. 20 at home. Born in Paul, Idaho. She was a full time mom and grandma and former manager at Ghost Mountain Resort in Pollock Pines, Calif.
