There are five openings on the board of directors in Hawaiian Paradise Park.
The deadline for interested lot owners to submit an application for nomination is March 14 at the association office in the HPP activity center at Maku‘u Drive and 17th Avenue. You can download the application and review how the current board has been operating the association at www.hppoa.com.
“If you are a lot owner in good standing — that means you are current in your annual road fees — then you are eligible to run as a board representative for the district in which your lot(s) is located. The five districts open for viable candidates are: 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9,” said spokeswoman Leilani Bronson-Crelly.
Bronson-Crelly, the HPP Nominating Committee chairwoman, invites interested persons to call the office for more information at 966-4500.
“While you are on the website, download the bylaws to understand the governing laws of the association, or read past meeting minutes,” she said.
HPP, the second largest subdivision in the United States, was incorporated in 1959, and in the 2010 census, its population increased to 11,400, which contributed to the redistricting of new legislative districts.
“We are a private subdivision with public access through our 138 miles of paved and unpaved roadways. We have big issues that need sound-minded leaders. We are indeed the ‘gorilla of the jungle.’ Please consider becoming an active participant of the association, and beyond that, maybe even an involved member of its governing body,” said Bronson-Crelly.
The board meets once a month, on the third Wednesday, and the general membership meets quarterly.
The next general membership meeting will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at the activity center.
