Bernice “Bea” Ruth Johnson, 88, died Feb. 7 at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Minneapolis, she was a former nursery school teacher and coordinator for St. David’s Nursery School in Minnetonka, Minn. Private services. Keylan Katsuji Kaleo Sato, 24, died Feb. 9 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a student, lifeguard and personal trainer at the University of Hawaii at Hilo and Hawaii Community College and was a reporter for Ke Kalahea newspaper and a peer mentor for peer assistant linkages and support. Celebration of Life held. Services will be held on Oahu at a later date. Survived by mother Dana Sato of Wahiawa, Oahu; brother Isaiah Sato of Wahiawa, Oahu; grandfather Katsuji Sato of Wahiawa, Oahu; grandmother Catherine Tanoue of Wailuku, Maui.
Magno Lira Tablit, 72, died Feb. 1 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in the Philippines, he was a seedcutter for the former Hamakua Sugar Plantation and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.
