Erlanda Basques scored 17 points and Matafolau Faaumu added 12 points and 11 rebounds Friday night as top-seeded Lahainaluna defeated Hilo 57-47 in the semifinals of the Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division I girls basketball tournament at McKinley High in Honolulu.

For the Big Island Interscholastic Federation runner-up Vikings (13-3), Sharlei Graham-Bernisto scored 16 points and Alexis Pana added 11.

Fa-Ko-Fiemea Faaumu added six points, 12 rebounds and five assists for the Lunas (16-0), who took the lead for good with a 17-2 run spanning the second and third quarters.

The Maui Interscholastic Association champions, who owned a commanding 52-30 edge in rebounding, will play third-seeded Punahou (13-1) at 7 p.m. today in the championship game at Blaisdell Center. The Buffanblu, the champions of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu, beat Mililani 53-48 in the other semifinal.

Hilo can match its third place finish of a year ago at 5 p.m today at Blaisdell against the Trojans (14-2) of the the Oahu Interscholastic Association.
