A county Fire Rescue helicopter found a missing hunter early Friday afternoon in a forested area off Ohiki Street in Pahoa’s Hawaiian Shores subdivision.
According to a written Fire Department statement, the man said he became separated from his hunting partners about 10 a.m. Thursday because of his unfamiliarity with the uluhe and ohia forest.
The man was reported missing at 10:06 a.m. Friday and the man was spotted and rescued at about 1:30 p.m. and taken to Hilo Medical Center by ambulance for evaluation.
