HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaiian Airlines is canceling its daily flight to the Japanese city of Fukuoka, saying it hasn’t been able to get enough passengers on the route.
The airline said in a statement Wednesday its final flight to Fukuoka will leave Honolulu on June 29 and return the following day.
CEO Mark Dunkerley said the airline hasn’t seen sufficient passenger growth to justify continuing service despite two years of effort.
Hawaiian began flying to Fukuoka in April 2012. Hawaiian also operates daily flights to Tokyo and Osaka and flies three times a week to Sendai and Sapporo.
