Zonta nursing scholarship deadline is Saturday

The Zonta Club of Hilo provides three scholarships, nursing, math/science and the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business along with the Young Women In Public Affairs Award. All applications for the 2014 scholarships and Young Women In Public Affairs are now available from the Zonta of Hilo on the website: www.zontahilo.org. The deadline for nursing, math/science scholarships and Young Women In Public Affairs Award is Saturday, and the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business scholarship application is due April 1.

Nursing student applicants must be accepted into the nursing program at Hawaii Community College and University of Hawaii at Hilo. The math/science scholarship is available to undergraduates and graduate students at University of Hawaii at Hilo. The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business scholarship is available to students attending any accredited college or university.

The goal of the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) program is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a young woman’s commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women. Applicants are asked to reflect on their voluntary commitment to their school and community and the problems limiting the advancement of the status of women in their own country and worldwide. The Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs program looks to the young women of today for the leaders of tomorrow.

Applications are due to: The Zonta Club of Hilo by Saturday. Applicants of age 16-19, studying and living on Hawaii Island at the time of application are eligible to apply.
